scsm 2006

ok... took the earliest train from toa payoh to cityhall early in the mornin at 6am... mum was already awake, ready to go to the market...

me: good mornin, mama. 早安您好！
mum: 这么早起来做说么？
me: 嗨，我没有睡到。我要去跑 21公里， 半个马拉松。。。
mum: 哇，跑那么多来做么？ 去哪里跑？
me: cityhall
mum: 哦。量力而行，不要晕倒。
me: 哈哈，choy! 不会的啦。

my mum is pretty amazed at my new found passion for long dist runnin... she knows i always like to jog, but not for half marathons...

the train was filled wif numerous runners dressed in sports attire. heard intrigued pple discussin abt the scsm too... glass panels of the train is filled with adverts regarding the marathon from standard chartered to adidas. lots of publicity!

when i arrived at cityhall station, a lot of people were dressed in the light blue event tee. some gathered in small groups, pairs and individuals alike... i husked through the groups and followed the moving crowd to the starting point.

it was still dark when i arrived at the gathering point. i checked my phone and it was already 620! i did my warm-up: 'praying to the tree' and 'steppin on the curb' all that... dun need for me to go to the bag deposit area, cos i travelled v light, very scared of crowded places, so 'luan'.. then i proceed to join the crowd at the startin point.

the route was pretty fine. no traffic stops, we felt like kings n queens. early cbd dun hav hustlin office workers too. no power suits n heels. only sports attired pple, some armed with power gel though!

it was a rather nice route with lots of water points... 100plus n mineral water alike.

i saw teelee, tlr and imd (i think its him ah), delphine, i think i also saw ultra and dasher... plus two of my other friends from sch... din call out to them though. though was distracting... but teelee said he like to say 'hi' to people he knows, cos that motivated him to go a lil faster. so next time u see teelee runnin, MUST call out to him! thanks for sassy, run3 n renoh for cheering me on at the bridge too!

after the run, i called kickjazz n roonz at the 30km support point. *slaps/bows for the people stationed there!!* it was already quite late, so there wasnt any point for me to go dwn to east coast. din see any other sgrunners, was very tired and so i went back home. i hav a bday lunch to attend as well.
